What is the HeroVest for Oncology and how will it benefit my child?The HeroVest is a certified FDA Class 1 Device that has passed all the necessary regulatory requirements for children and adults in treatment that are fitted with a central line. The HeroVest has been designed to provide children and adult's safety and security for their Intravenous lines during normal daily activities.

Where and how was it designed?It was designed through patients and their family’s involvement in the US Children's hospitals with input from the Clinical Professionals who care for the patients. The Children's hospitals have shown keen interest and are introducting the HeroVest specifically for toddlers and young children. We have an entire portfolio of children's and Adult Wearables with ConnectedVest and Connected Patient launching in Q4 2022. Meditek products are now preparing a Global launch in US, Asia Pacific, Middle East and more.

What is the side pouch for and can it be used on both sides of the vest?The side pouch is where the end of the central line is placed and secured. It can be placed on either side of the vest as patients have lines fitted on either side of the body.

How will I know how to use it properly; does it come with instructions?Yes, each product comes with a set of Instructions for use which will tell you how to use the HeroVest. The Instructions have been designed and developed with input from families and their clinical care team. You can also reach out to one of dedicated support staff 24 hours.

What is the age range it is designed for?The HeroVest Pediatric is aimed at children between one and ten years of age. We now also offer Male and Female HeroVests for all sizes. Please contact us for more information.

I constantly worry because my child plays with her catheter line and my main fear is that they pull it out; will the HeroVest help?The product has been designed with parent and carer confidence and re-assurance in mind as the child wearing the HeroVest will have reduced access to the line itself. We will soon be launching Connected Vest and Connected Patient, further helping the patients.

Why is it designed to be fastened at the back rather than the front?Designed with patient security in mind the HeroVest is closed and fastened at the back to prevent children unnecessarily taking the vest off.

What is the fabric and why was it chosen?The fabric is 100% polyester. It is known as a 3D warp spacer material and chosen because it is fire-retardant for saftey, light weight, breathable, fully washable and has structure ( where needed) to hold the side pouch in position.

What colours are available?At present HeroVest is only available in warp spacer fabric in white. We will be adding additional colors in the coming months. The Adult (Male & Femaile) are available in Grey Color or special order white.

Can my child wear it in hospital, at home or both?"Yes, it is designed, developed and tested for use both in hospital and at home.

Children grow quickly, how many sizes are available? How will I determine which is the most suitable size for my child?"There are four sizes, x-small, small, medium and large for all ages. Size selection is according to your child chest measurement.

One of my main concerns is that it will become dirty; is it fully washable?The HeroVest is single patient use and is washable and can be washed at temperatures up to 60 C. The washing instructions are contained within the Instructions for use.

How many HeroVests do you recommend that I purchase?Here we would recommend more than one so that one is always available whilst one is being washed. HeroVest come in 2, 4 and 10 pack packages for the convenience of the patients.

What is the HeroVest for Renal and what are its benefits?The HeroVest for Renal is a certified medical device Class 1 that has passed all the necessary regulatory requirements for Haemodialysis Patients in treatment that are fitted with a central line. The vest has been designed to provide you safety and security for your line during normal daily activities.

Where and how was it designed?It was designed through patients and their family’s involvement at NHS UK and Children's Hospitals in the US with input from the Clinical Professionals who care for at risk patients.

I have a line fitted on my left side is this a problem and will the product work for me?Yes, the product has been specifically designed to accommodate a line fitted on either side of the torso.

What are the key features of the vest?Shoulder Openings – the shoulder openings are dual purpose. For ease of putting on the vest and for clinical staff to open to sight and perform wound care management of the exit site without having to remove the vest during dialysis or if the patient is a sleep. Shoulder Flaps – the shoulder flaps open so that the central line may pass through before locating the end of the line into the retaining pouch. The flaps are closed off with velcro tabs. Retaining Pouch – the retaining pouch located on the front of the vest contains internal loops into which the end of the lines is inserted and retained whilst not in use; the pouch is then closed off to conceal the end of the lines.

No professional training is required for putting on and taking off the Vest, however its always good to admisister the change at the beging for the right fit. The Instructions have been designed and developed with input from families and their clinical care team.

I constantly worry about my catheter line and my main fear is that it will get pulled out; will the HeroVest help?The product has been designed with patient and carer confidence and re-assurance in mind. User of the HeroVest will reduce likelihood of lines inadvertently falling out of place or accidently displaced while moving around or being active. This is a specially common in toddlers and yound childrens where they accidently pull the PICC ( peripherally inserted central catheter line) or other CVC (central venous catheter line).

What is the fabric and why was it chosen?The Pediatric HeroVest is 100% Cotton and made of Warp spacer fabric whihc is fire retardant, light weight and breathable. The adult HeroVest product is made from a Cotton Jersey fabric with 10 % lycra to allow for stretch and comfort to the wearer which was chosen by patients assisting in product design. Special orders for Adult HeroVests with warp spacer fabric be special ordered.

What is the Connected-Vest & Connected-Patient feature and when will it be available?HeroVest will be able to send your vital sign information to your doctor, nurse, carrer or loved one via connected patient feature. This feature will be made of sensors (breathing, heart, SPO2, GPS location etc) in the HeroVest and able to connect remotely via connected App and dashboard with full featured information.
